Kay Richardson

ay has a strong background in advising and assisting organisations implement and enhance structures and operational performance. This includes a focus on governance, strategic planning, budgeting, risk analysis and change management. She brings capacity to interpret, analyse and make recommendations to achieve ‘whole of organisation’ performance improvement.

Living much of her life in small regional towns, Kay appreciates the nuances of co-designing collaborative community projects with a diverse range of stakeholders. She has led multi-disciplinary teams and produced qualitative research. She prefers to focus on mindset and real adaptive problem-solving fostering learning across communities and connecting them to learn from one another. She has also contributed to the development of her local community ‘place making’ plans.

Across 2016-2018 Kay was Operations & Acting General Manager for Accessible Arts, the NSW peak body representing the interests of artists and audiences with disability. Part of this role included working with major cultural events and institutions such as the Sydney Opera House, Museum of Contemporary Arts, Australia Museum, Australian Chamber Orchestra to review and analyse participation trends. 

Her experience with cultural organisations includes a term (2009-10) as manager for the Wangaratta Jazz Festival. This role embraced day-to-day management of the internationally recognised music festival.  Extensive consultation with City Council, the Performing Arts Centre and major funding bodies (Arts Victoria, Australia Council) and community consultation resulting in the selection of a design studio to re-brand, design and develop content for a new website and social media portals. Other significant work included festival program design, selection and implementation of a new financial and ticketing system, development and adoption of new constituent documents, financial reporting and strategic plans, volunteer management, risk assessments, sponsorship proposals, board reports and grant acquittal reports.
